welcome and i how i found out that it’s only hair!!!

Where do I begin?  In reality this all started with a haircut or should I say a hair chop!!!  It took a simple haircut to get my butt in gear and start this whole blog thing.  I’ve been pondering the idea of a blog for years but I really didn’t know what I’d talk about and then finally I decided to just talk!

Of course I have interests and hobbies but I don’t dedicate enough of my time to be able to post something about these things daily.  Then I thought why do I have to talk about just one thing!? My life isn’t that one sided and I’m hoping I have a lot more to talk about then knitting and baking.

Yup, I’m a grandma in a 35 year old’s body!  I LOVE to knit and bake.  I’m also a pretty good cook but in all honesty I don’t cook every day.  If I cooked everyday my husband would think it’s normal and expected, this way he appreciates the times I do cook and who am I kidding, I just don’t have the energy to put together a kick ass meal every night!   We usually throw something on the grill and we’re good to go.

I hope to some day graduate to developing my own recipes however I’m not quite there yet.  You’ll see some recipes I make myself based on what I’ve seen my mom (now she’s an amazing cook) make my whole life or things that I just throw together but you’ll mostly read about stuff I’ve tried out.  I love reading food blogs and I try out quite a few recipes so I thought it would be a good idea to tell you about my results from those culinary tries and hopefully they’ll inspire you to actually cook the recipes instead of just ogling them online.

So I’d been thinking about cutting my hair for ages but about three months ago I finally got the courage to actually consider it and do it.  Of course M (my husband) didn’t want me to cut it, in typical male fashion, he liked my too long hair.  So what did I do?  PINTERESTED short haircuts and made up my little board, printed it, and took it to my salon.  Much to my surprise (and M’s relief) my stylist said we shouldn’t do the big chop (I was thinking a Jennifer Lawrence/Charlize Theron pixie) but still cut off quite a bit.  And that’s what we did; I cut off my long long mane (half way down my back) to MY CHIN.  Am I in LOVE with it, well unfortunately not but I do like it.  M HATES IT and he makes sure to tell me therefore this means that I don’t think I’m going to go any shorter.  However I do LOVE the ease.  It’s so easy to maintain and wash; my showers are cut by three quarters cause all I have to do is a shampoo and quick rinse.  I used to have to shampoo, rinse like crazy, condition, and then rinse again and again.  Unfortunately I didn’t take any pics of the big chop but I promise to do better with the whole photo thing.

The truth is I SUCK at taking pictures however I do realize pics are a major part of a successful blog so I have to get my butt in gear and practice and take pics of everything.  You’ll have to bear with me cause they’re going to lack the quality of food porn pics but I’m hoping I’ll get there sooner or later (hopefully sooner…)!  I promise to add photos from this post onward!

Anyways, I digress, all this to say that it took this haircut for me to make the jump to blogger.  I’m actually terrified, so scared that I haven’t told anyone that I’m doing this.  I kind of just want to get my feet wet and see if anyone is actually going to read this without me sending out a Facebook message asking all my friends to check out my blog and like it on FB.

I guess I should tell you a little about myself:  I’m a Canadian expat living in Spain. I’ve been here for 13 years and I’m married (no kids or pets) to a wonderful, hot, funny guy who knows how to keep it real.  I have a normal job that I enjoy however I’ve been getting a little bored lately and this is where the blog also comes in.  I’m hoping this will give me a new avenue to express myself and to be more creative.  I consider myself to be a creative person but I’m just not in a milieu to let that creativity fly.  Part of my 2014 and beyond resolutions/goals is to be more creative.  What does that mean?  I’m not exactly sure but I’m going to work on it.  As I said, I love to knit and bake and I’m also an avid reader.  I love living in Spain; it really is a wonderful place to make a life and I consider myself a very fortunate soul to be able to have chosen my residence and make the most of it.

So welcome to my little spot on the world wide web.  I hope you drop by often and say hi.  I’d love to hear your comments and feedback, so don’t be shy.  Have you ever taken a big leap as a result of a little change?  I discovered it’s only hair!  Who would have thought?
